Early Life
Born on 19th May 1981 to parents of African descent, Gotti was mostly raised in the Frayser Apartments in Memphis. His official birth name is Mario Sentell Giden Mims.

Yo Gotti got signed under RCA, another top record label name.
It is when he was at RCA that he released Live From The Kitchen, the 6th album to his name. After the debut, the album got to the 12th spot in the acclaimed US Billboard 200.
5 Star, a single from the same album, made waves on the Hot 100, peaking at number 79. On the US Rap charts, it also did well and managed to peak at number 11.
Live From The Kitchen (the album) managed to sell 16,000+ copies during the first weeks.
This did not go well with Yo Gotti who saw that the record did not deliver on the sales. Consequently, it later led him to walk out of RCA.
At the end of the same year, Yo Gotti later released a mixtape project called Cocaine Muzik 7: The World Is Yours.
In 2013
Yo Gotti signed into a distribution deal with Epic Records where he later announced his 7th album. The name of this album was I Am and only came out later in November of the same year.
Among the most notable hits from the album was the single Act Right. It marked its debut on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart with an impressive position 5. The track featured other celebrated rappers like YG and Young Jeezy.

In 2016
