Technical Support - Frequent crashes when changing zones - Forum - Path of Exile (2024)

At first game crashes seemed to be rare - to non existant. Lately they seem to happen every hour or so, which is annoying, but tolerable. However, I have just started act 3 and my computer seems to absolutely refuse to load Sarn marketplace.

My graphics are set at absolutely as low as they can go, even though I probably could turn a few of the higher settings on and still get playable framerates.

My system is not good, but it is not terrible either. 3.5g ram, 2.4ghz processor, Zotac Geforce 210 graphics card 1024mb ddr3, 520mhz core clock. OS is Vista home basic. I know this is far from a top of the line gaming PC, but this game has ran very well with the exception of this issue, which I did not experience until much later acts.

There is a potential fix that you can try:
"EOUTOFMEMORY or Unable to Map File or Unable to MapViewOfFile
This usually occurs when your game file runs out of ram, common on PCs with low ram or running 32bit versions of windows. Running the game with Texture Quality set to Medium usually fixes this, though having less than 4gb of ram will cause problems after changing areas a number of times. We will improve the memory recovery system in future.
You can also reduce the rate of these crashes slightly by adding -gc 2 to the end of your Path of Exile shortcut target, as shown here: http://i.imgur.com/UYl4uhB.png "

This does not fix it and in fact is a pretty crappy solution. I am running 8gb, with nothing else running and tonight my game crashed 4 times while fighting piety, 4 times. All those runs wasted, all that effort for fraking nothing, I am so pissed right now that I can't seee straight. As a supporter you know I love this game but it has become barely payable since the last two patches. Arrrgh!!

I also have 1gb of vram, and have turned off everything because of this. What a load of sh*t that I can actually runt he game normally in high graphics mode but......let me know when you can get this to stop. 4 attempts of piety, one for general, so much experience lost, this so sucks...

What steps have you tried to resolve the issue?
I'd recommend increasing your virtual ram to at least 6-8GB.

Just for your information, VRAM is usually referring to video card memory.

Still getting crashes, not sure if adding -2gc did anything (though I was able to play marketplace for 2 minutes before crashing after doing so). As stated in my original post my settings are on the lowest possible; which means my textures have always been set to medium not high. This game runs absolutely great apart from this 1 frustating issue. I love this game so far, but if this doesn't get resolved then I can't advance past the first quest in act 3.

Have you run a Pack Check?

I have the same issue btw always when changing maps.

Basically the error I get is that it cant seem to load certain what seems like sound files.

this is a screenshot as example. I get like 10 of these msgs then it says poe.exe crashed blabla...
its annoying as hell especially running maps, I loose my portal and GG........
